Report Card: Rating Period 1

I have just received my report card about twenty minutes ago. As usual, I’m sure you want to know how I did. One important thing to note is that AP classes are now worth 6 GPA points for an A, with 5 being given for a B. Honors classes remain at 5 for an A and 4 for a B. Well, here’s my grades for the start of my senior school year.

Rating Period 1:

  • AP U.S. Government - A
  • AP Macroeconomics - A
  • Honors English 4 - A
  • AP Calculus - A
  • Computer Networking - A

First Rating Period GPA: 4.8

You are certainly smart! Boy howdy I just got a few As, mainly Bs and the occasion C.

I used to be like that but for some reason lately I’ve been really putting forth an effort. Don’t expect that to last, though. Since I’ve already been accepted to the college I want to go to, I’m probably going to start slacking and not be so concerned about my grades.

I don’t know if this is true or not, but when I went to high school they tried to scare us by saying if you slack off when they ship your final transcript, they can take your place away from the school. I doubt it, but don’t slack that much :-). Again, they see final grades, not semester grades, if I remember correctly.

6 for an AP class??? holy geez. I do agree with weighting advanced classes, but why should AP be greater than honors, I think thats just ridiculous.

My school did that because people were taking the “easier” honor courses instead of AP and getting the same GPA value. For example, the half-year honors U.S. History class was getting the same credit as the full-year AP U.S. History class.

Back when I was in high school, they didn’t believe in 0’s for Fs. So they started at 1. I really think that is because of a bug in their software. Whenever I got mail from them, the ZIP code was 7417 (rather than 07417) on their return address even!
So 1 was F, 2 was D, and so on. I believe 6 was for A on honours and AP. I was going to take one H course (Russian), but I took AP Computer Science instead. But since I was already taking German, I chose not to take another language at the same time.
