Theme: Clean and Mean

I think I have found a name for my theme. I’m going to call it Clean and Mean. The title sums up what the theme is about. We may see a Thanksgiving Break release of Clean and Mean if things continue to go as planned. Here’s what I need to with the theme yet:

  • Add the comment sections (will take a while)
  • The navigational things (previous post, etc.)
  • Navigational aids (you’re currently browsing X)
  • Search pages
  • Links page (that’s like a five second job)
  • IE hacks (if they’re easy and won’t take long)
  • Migrating existing posts (change old classes, etc.)

I think you’ll be surprised by the theme once I put it up on the main site. It just looks so slick. Since you’ve all been very patient, here is a sneak preview of one part of it.

Carl, Learning HTML is easy, using it well is hard!

Yeah, as I’m designing this I’m finding out that I can know all the HTML and CSS in the world, but that’s not going to help me design something good. Really coding websites is more about have a good sense of design and then using your HTML skills, not the other way around.

why waste time and don’t make it work for IE. I am really considering making an anti-IE plugin to ensure people use Firefox or other browsers.

Well here’s the thing. If when I’m done, I only need like 5-10 IE hacks I’ll do them. But if I load my theme up in IE and I can distinguish that a website is there, screw IE.

If you have the urge to code, run it through Postable and <pre><code>wrap it up</code></pre>.
