Right now in my hands I hold one of the first bootable OSx86 10.4.4 disks. This disk will allow anyone to install OSx86 on any SSE2 or greater machine. No, this isn’t a hoax; this disk is real.
Within the last four hours a random 10.4.4 DVD patcher turned up on Usenet. Some OSx86ers caught onto this and started downloading it. After giving the shell scripts a thorough look-over, OSx86ers deemed this patcher legit. Once the disk was acknowledged as the real deal, several OSx86ers began testing this DVD out, including me.
Unfortunately the install hasn’t been going one-hundred percent as planned. The installation takes a while to start and while it does complete, 10.4.4 does not boot for some people. A few lucky individuals have got 10.4.4 to boot without trouble. Personally, I’m still waiting for the install to complete
It looks as if within the next day a fully working 10.4.4 bootable disk will be out in the wild. Keep an eye out for it at a torrent site near you. Yes, miracles do come true.
Update: My installation succeeded, although I did have a few minor kext errors. With some quick minor repairs this installation will be up and running in no time.

Interesting. So this is an iso I can burn onto a DVD and install it w/o all the work you went through earlier? For some reason, whenever I see ‘disk’ i think floppy disk, and ‘disc’ for compact disc. dunno just me. not to be a nit picker though.
For those looking for the DVD patcher and have USENET access, go here:

I hate to keep spamming the comments, but the patcher has been uploaded to:
Please do not post the file. This website needs to remain legal. ~cavemoneky50
If you plan on directly linking to the file, don’t do it on here. OSx86 Project was taken down due to direct links, and I’m trying to prevent that. Sorry.
Seriously. Don’t directly link. That’s idiocy. Link to a torrent when it comes out.
bad karma dude
Man Cavemonkey I’m going to start looking at ur site more often. It looks like your getting popular. Keep it up bro and I still think you got the job for PPL hahaha see ya at school laters!

Don’t even link to torrents, just mention key parts of the name, and any user can find the file for themselves.
Good Job stealing the Greasemonkey icon!
Believe it or not I had that favicon way before Greasemonkey ever existed. You can check my archive.org logs.
I’m currently using 10.4.3, is there any advantage to upgrading to 10.4.4?
The majority of bugs you may have noticed have been fixed. In my opinion, just having the latest Safari is worth it. Many of Safari’s extensions only work with the latest version.
For some reason, whenever I see “disk” i think floppy disk, and “disc” for compact disc.
For some reason, whenever I see ‘Jonathan’, I think of a fucking white cocksucking, ball-licking ugly fag.
Right, i have this thing for months now…
Didn’t use that patcher, but did it myself.
Not hot news for me….
The “hot” news is that this is 10.4.4. 10.4.x has been leaked for months now. This is a new build.
My big question is how compatible are ATI/Nvida graphics cards with 10.4.4? Quartz Extreme and resolution changing work now?
So.. Excuse me for being daft, but does this mean this will run on any Pentium older than 2001/2002? Since it’s SSE2, does it mean it’ll run on Athlons? -support was added in 2003-
How about Athlon64’s?
Cheers
Ya don’t post direct links. I would also like to know if there is full acceleration on systems using nVidia cards because I had read that they weren’t supported.
Now the real question is if the install will update. If the software updater is not able to sense the processor that is running, the system will stay updated and secure. If not, keeping things up to date will be a task. This should make things interesting.

(paying mac user)
I’m wondering about the support of graphic cards myself.. does it support radeon 9600? if it does, it’ll be installed on my computer very quickly
Hi, does using this OS allow you to still play all the games that I play on Windows?
Thanks
Allan
God damn those f******* bastards… stick to your crapy windows stuff and leave us mac users alone… Who ever that did should be shot burned and thorwn into a toilet…:evil::evil:
You guys are really funny, if you still to try to install OS X on X86-Mashines without any trouble, i work on my mac and i know everything works fine.
And the Next update is coming, and your OS X will be works in future always sluggish. Super, whats the advantage? Whats the Deal? Go back to Windows or buy a Mac.
Have fun with OS X, but the feeling is the same like if you want to try to build a Porsche-Engine inside a VW Beetle of the 70´s.. How it feels? You know somebody does it, it could work, someday the Beetle can be very fast, but its a lot of work and the End of the Story is, you need Time, maye a lot of money to have a Old Beetle with a Porsche Engine. But what you dont have is a Porsche. Too Bad.
What are you talking about … Apple use the very same components every other manufacturer use, all iBooks starting with QT are made in the same plants as Dell Latitudes, their just contracted out to the cheapest manufacturer in asia. The big difference is ibooks and powerbooks are pretty and have one mouse button. The screen is made by samsung, the disks are made by Toshiba, the graphics card is made by nVidia ? Whats so special about this hardware with an apple badge stuck on it ?
where is the hardware compatability list ?
The list is here. It’s going to take a view days to build up the list though.
i did a little searching and i think that my laptop sony vaio vgn-fs315b is SSE2 compatible
but before i start downloading the DVD could someone tell me if it would work thanks in advance.
1.73 pentium m
intel media graphics accellerator 900
512mb of ram
what’s the name of the torrent so I can search for it. Thanks people. No link needed, just the name of the torrent. Peace out.
for some odd ball reason, whenever i see Faggots R Us i see a 12 year old getting beat up by his dad by a belt and crying like a little sissy.
Once this is up and running, does anyone know if like on a Mac you will be able to load OSX on an external drive and boot it on any computer. If that is posible than we can carry our drives and have OSX anywhere all most all computer will be potential Macs!!!
Hey great !
I recently won a xbox 360 http://www.oh22.net/02/ there . Possible to boot osx from there ?
What’s the name of the file on the torrents?
Eric, just go to demonoid and search for “10.4.4″ one of the first results should be a osx86 10.4.4 install dvd or something like that
Folks,
This page is getting a lot of hits from people interested in this project. Please try not to act so retarded. I also find your lack of grammatical skills to be very offensive. Am I talking to you? You decide.

But you do have an old beetle that will carry the front wheels 3 feet off the ground across the parking lot!
It would be really handy if dual boot would work (winxp and osx).
Anyway, nice job.
So let me get this staright, all i need to install 10.4.4 OSx86 is this disc?
Does this release require PAE? I couldn’t install 10.4.3 because it requires strict PAE. I have sse2 but no PAE.
Alright, I have a lot of questions to answer, so let’s get right to them.
No, no major improvements. Apple has ATI/Nvidia cards working now but only with EFI. So, hacked versions will not be able to take advantage of these new drivers.
OSx86 will work on any CPU - as long as it has at least SSE2 instructions. The plain ond Athlons don’t have SSE2, but the new 64 ones do.
Software Update works and will even attempt to update to 10.4.5. It’s just 10.4.5 replace several hacked files necessary to run. If we get lucky some updates will work, but I’m guessing Apple will be trying their hardest to make updates to the files we need.
9600 is supported, although you’ll be stuck in 1024×768 and have some minor mouse tearing.
No. Windows apps and Mac apps are not compatible.
Yes, you can do it. You just have to make sure those computers have at least SSE2 support.
No.
You can. You just need a boot loader.
Bingo!
I’m pretty sure it does, but don’t quote me on that.
To all those being well smartasses you can take your dumb ass comments somewhere else. To those that have real questions keep asking cavemonkey will try to help you as much as he can. But this post is send to thoses jerks commenting stop being pussies and get a life.

Hi my friends…
What’s the OSX86’s performance taken WinXP like paremeter? It’s really best or simply a geek trick to “shows how cool is”?
I work in Photoshop with a 200Mb file and mi Dell Latitude with 512 and WinXP turns slow… with OSX can be better the performance.
With OSX I can work with Photoshop, Autocad, Flash, etc. but in Linux don’t… ergo… OSX will be a great alternative to XP.
Has anyone tried to install into VMware?
The patched DVD does not work in VMware, at least according to the random NFO file that comes with the patcher. OSx86 10.4.4 does work in VMware, though. You just need to follow Maxxuss’ original 10.4.4 directions and not use the patched DVD.
Good Job stealing the OS X and installing on your sucking windows machines.
Come on, get a real mac if you wanna use OS X…thats so wierd, what you´re
doing….
I don’t wanna buy a Mac… this “white, metallic, shinny, with chocolate chips” laptops are only de packaging for sell a good S.O., obviously that’s only marketing.
Dell is a good machine, but it comes with XP… with OSX would be much better. They have similar components. Are they similar performances with OSX?
I just got the install dvd burnt. I pulled the hdd out of my laptop (Acer Travelmate 4400) and stuck in an older 40 Gb one (with no partitions, just unallocated space) so i could play without accidently deleting my windows.
I loaded from the dvd. It comes to a window with an apple logo and a progress wheel, but then a little error icon (circle with line through) comes up and it stops.
1) The next time I tried with the -v command and I got the line “IOPCCardBridge : : checkBusIDs invalid sub/cardbus/pci settings of 0×0″ followed by “still waiting for root device”. No go.
About half of the times I try booting from the disk, I immediately get the line “System config file ‘/com.apple.Boot.plist’ not found”.
I have tried several times and I get always end at instance 2 from above. Would you say this is an issue with the compatability (hope not) or an issue with the hdd not being formated, or something else all together?
Dustin, this is an early version of the bootable install CD, and from what I’m hearing a lot of people are having trouble installing it on laptops. Maxxuss has said that he will be working on a solution, so hold tight, a new disc is on the way.
ok, thanks cavemonkey… sux to be me…. cant wait for version that will for me…
I got 10.4.4 installed without a hitch but my display is screwy. I have an integrated intel i think its a 915G chipset. But in 10.4.4 my resolution is 800×600 and 256 colors, but actually looks more like 8 colors, and its hard to read the text. Any ideas on how to fix this? i dont expect to find any drivers and i cant write my own,
Any ideas?
Thanks
Thanks for this resource cavemonkey
I’d hate to buy one of those sluggish MacIntels just to test OSX.
Thank you all for inflating the prices for the honest people out there who have a conscious and are unselfish enough to see the consequences that ruin society.
A lot of whiny babies around here.
Anyway, my quick experience with the install:
Booted and installed without a single hitch on an HP Pavilion 700 series. P4, i845 chipset, Nvidia geforce 2 MX video, 256MB ram. The only thing that doesn’t work is the built-in ethernet port. Initially booting the DVD is slow as hell, but after install it runs much faster than I expected.
I tried 2 Athlon XP based systems, just for fun, and couldn’t even get the DVD to boot.
Does it stall for a while, perhaps giving an airport error? I let it go for ten minutes after it stalled and nothing happened, and no hard drive activity, so I’m assuming it died. Unless I should be booting it in verbose?
I am installing 10.4.4 now using vmware and daemon tools, because I dont have a burner, the setup was a little tricky, to say the least, but its installing, shows about an hour left…grrrrrr….Also my machine has 2 internal hard drives, and what I did was take the vmware method of putting chain0 into my boot.ini, so its flagged at start, and HOPEFULLY it will boot into 10.4.4…We shall see!
From what I’ve heard, with this version of the disc it’s impossible to install in VMware. The original creator of the patcher is working hard to get VMware working, but at the moment it does not.
sorry i copied wrong link….
http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/7113/hahahaha3cp.jpg
So I got 10.4.4 completely installed without a hitch but there are a couple things that arent working: audio and ethernet.
I found a link that shows how to get the audio working, but I couldnt get it to work. I dont know why. I basically have a stock Dell Dimension 4700. If anyone is willing to help me figure out how to get these things working, let me know and I will be MORE than willing to give more detailed specs on my hardware.
Email or hit me up here if you are willing to help.
Thanks guys!
darylhenson@comcast.net
I got it to install and everything but when it gets to the last step, “finish up” it says restart and just sits there. So I manually restart and it doesn’t boot at all. What am I missing?
just go to piratebay
there it’s!
Burned the DVD ISO starts to boot says press any key to install then gets to a grey screen with various error msges in different languages saying to reboot.Any clues ? XP 2600 2gb ram geforce 6600 GT
Tried it on my celeron 2.3 ghz 1gb ram geforce 2 TI same error.
Well, that’s pretty ignorant. Inflating what prices? The totally unjustified $3000 cost of a Mac that has been around long before the x86 iterations of the OS? Or do you mean those of us who own Macs, and have legitimately purchased OS X, but would just much prefer to run it on our much more powerful x86 based machines? I am sick of trying to run OS X through PearPC at molasses speeds. And I am sick of ignoranmuses who claim to have some idea what they’re talking about yet really have no clue. There is no evidence that the project to unlock x86 OS X to other machines has hurt Apple in anyway or that it has driven up costs. Keep dreaming fan boy. Enjoy your $3000 machine, I hope you like paying a $1500 bonus just for the OS, because the hardware doesn’t justifiably cost that much.
Hi, I install the DVD on my computer, everything runs fine on the install, but after finishing the computer reboot and I the only thing I can see it’s the cursor blinking on the upper-left corner, and the OSX never boot.
Any advice? Sorry for my bad English.
now got it to boot says select install directory and no drive shows ??? any clues guyz plz
SORTED !!!!!
Happy as a pig in shit !!! muppet trouble
Is there anyway hackers coders ect can make it compatable for SSE only machines ??
mmm restarted and says they were errors
Trying to install again
gutted
I try using a diferent hard disk and obtain the same result. The OSX install complete, but when reboot I only see the blinking cursor on the upper-left corner, looks like the the pc does not find the info to boot the OS.
Any ideas of what can I look?
When your computer is starting up press F8. You should get a boot prompt. Type -v and watch the messages that appear. Look for any errors and post them here.
Nope, SSE doesn’t include the instructions needed to make OS X work.
When my computer start I press F8, but anything happend. Any prompt or message, if I put the install DVD the computers start again, I notice that I can open the terminal when the install it’s about to begin, I was thinking if I can check the correct installation of OSX on the HD, can be that done?
Thanks,
Well, you won’t be able to diagnose the exact problem by using the boot DVD. What I would try is repeatedly pressing F8 as you boot the computer. There should be at least a second when you can get the prompt.
msrs cavemonkey and maxxus have tremendous investments in time
spent on this. that must be acknowledged and commended.

i’m glad that someone has inherited that soul.
i am weary from trying to distill the endless bits into a function item of technological curios.
i’ll probably have to “donate” some funds to a stranger in exchange for a disc of the install.
i haven’t the free time to keep searching.
but i thank cave for a little kerosene to toss on a dwindling fire.

I have the same problem as Edian!
My system boot on the dvd, install everything without any problems.
I also tried the -v and everything seems perfect!
After the installation is done, it reboots and there are the problem.
IF the computer starts with the DVD in… it says: “system config file ‘/com.apple.boot.plist’ not found” and it stucks.
If a reboot without the DVD in, i got a little cursor blinking on the top left and nothing happen! I can’t even press F8 nowhere.
It only works if I leave the dvd in and I want to install again!
Then I can press F8, type -v and ENTER but it will re-install everything.
I have the same problem after !!
Any solution ?
Thank you very much!
GeniuS
Have you guys tried the 10.4.5 DVD that’s been floating around? It might work a lot better for you than the 10.4.4 DVD.
I don t know wich one I m using but I think it is the 10.4.5 version !
How can I know ?
I ll try to download again.
I thought I have the good one because all the installation worked perfectly!
I was able to repartition my disk, erase with security level 7 (also tried the “zero format” ) and then choose that new formated drive to install, wait about around 30 min for the installation (with all the progress bar).
For me, that means that my dvd is perfectly bootable!
But it just doesn’t start Mac OSx after !!
As I said, I ll try to download again !
Tkx
I’m pretty sure that I’m using 10.4.5
Same thing, I going to download it again and make sure it’s 10.4.5, the weird thing it’s that the 10.4.3 works fine, maybe I
