Despite my previous post, I finally decided to use Google Calendar. However, that transition did not come easy. I quickly learned that I would not be able to take advantage of Google Calendar’s SMS notifications since my carrier, Verizon Wireless, was not listed as an option.

Luckily there was an easy work around for this. I figured one of the supported carriers must use the same technology as Verizon, so I went through the list of carriers. After about ten minutes of trying every carrier on the list, I finally found one. Just set your mobile carrier as T-Mobile and Google’s SMS features will work perfectly. Not only do the basic SMS notifications work, but all of the SMS tricks work also. Now I can enjoy Google Calendar and use my Verizon Wireless cell phone to receive the notifications.
