I thought I’d give you guys a little update on the latest findings with Bluetooth on a Verizon RAZR V3c. As I’m sure you’re aware by now, taking your RAZR to a Verizon store for an update to the .04 software will only result in Bluetooth being enabled if you have the original Verizon firmware with Bluetooth enabled already. This is because the software that Verizon stores have is simply a patch. However, there has now been a new firmware file leaked called version .04P. Only a lucky few Verizon stores apparently have this version, so your chances of getting it are slim. Instead, you can download this file somewhere on the internet (I’m not going to help you), and flash it yourself. After the flash you’ll have a fully working Bluetooth phone, regardless of what firmware version you started with.
This is great news for modders since you’ll no longer have to downgrade to .02 before flashing to .04 at a Verizon store. You can do the whole process yourself, without downgrading. This is also a sign of things to come. Since some people have received version .04P by just going to a Verizon store, this shows that Verizon is at least experimenting with enabling Bluetooth. It might not be right away, but sometime down the road we may get this enabled without doing anything ourselves. Sure, it’s not a complete policy change like I thought originally, but we’re getting closer.

Very interesting Ron.
Keep us posted on what you hear. The moment I can walk into a Verizon Wireless store, pickup a RAZR, and have full bluetooth features…I am going to bite the bullet and throw down some cash for one.
Thanks for the update. I suppose the forums will guide the intrepid towards this magical 0.4P ?
Verizon Wireless Vcastrates the Razr.
Motorola builds a phone with great features users want, the greedy network provider disables the bluetooth connections making the phone features almost useless.
Paying $.25 plus airtime for downloading a photo to my pc. Give me a break.
It’s time to support another network provider, that will stay out of my phone and provide the service I want the way I want it.
Time to help cingular build a few more towers.
I just got a RAZR V3c from VZW last week and while I like the BlueTooth sync, the missing OBEX capability is annoying. VZW won’t flash my phone (their reps didn’t really understand what I was looking for, I suspect). So if I find 0.4p I might be in business?
Thanks for the tip.
Is this a new change, then? I got a Verizon RAZR V3c in August 2006…it came with OBEX enabled.
However, Bluetooth dial-up networking has recently disappeared from the phone, although I can get a dial-up connecition with a data cable.
