I thought tonight would be a good night to publish the second and final Apple Scholars essay. I’ve been under the weather all day, so it’s near impossible to get a logical thought pattern at the moment. That’s why I’m whipping out the prewritten stuff.
This Apple Scholar essay deals with how technology has enhanced my academic experience. Like the previous essay, this one had a 250 word limit, meaning my essay may seem slightly abrupt. Just take it for what it’s worth and look forward to some high-quality content coming your way tomorrow:
Technology has dramatically enhanced my academic life. Within my school, I am a member of the Academy of Information Technology. The academy takes a school’s existing curriculum and adds technology where applicable to existing curriculums. This unique experience has allowed me to utilize technology in different ways.
My research for various topic within school has gone completely online. Long gone are the days of finding both internet and print sources. The internet can now be counted on as a reliable source, provided your information comes from a trusted website. In additional to the internet-only sources, the majority of print sources such as newspapers and even books can be found online. Having such a diverse knowledge base available online makes researching topics a breeze, giving me more time to focus on the information and less time looking for it.
Technology has also affected reports given in school. I’ve had the opportunity to create several multimedia based reports, such as slideshows and even video recreation of certain topics. This new style of report dictation feels more rewarding to me, since I can use other skills besides my knowledge to convey my message to my audience.
Finally, technology has aided me in the realm of organization. By using devices such as a PDA, I have been able to easily manage various assignments given in class. Having everything organized allows me to focus on getting the projects done, instead of trying to remember what needs to be done.

wow we took the same approach again (my response):
“At my local high school, I have been a student in Environmental and Spatial Technology lab which is a project-based, service-learning class which aims at implementing technology to tackle problems within the community and school. As a student within the classroom, I have had to work in teams using various hardware and software programs to design solutions to problems arising within my community and school. Because this class is student-centered, I was given the opportunity to be a leader within the class and head projects that not only benefited the local Red Cross organization in my community, but also the Fort Smith School District and my local high school. EAST Lab allowed me to gain insight into my own abilities, so I could demonstrate my value to the school and community, while building upon my strengths and weaknesses in a way that became a life-changing experience. Technology helped me become a creative, intuitive, and adaptable student, which benefits will carry not only into college but also into my future. As I have learned, in a number of ways, Technology became a learning tool which aided me in my academic endeavors as well as my personal development.”
