Is Bloglines working for anyone right now? For the past two days Bloglines has completely sucked at updating my feeds. I’ll check Bloglines after a few hours and none of my feeds have updated. Hard to believe since I have feeds like Digg which is updated almost every hour. Over the past two days, I think Bloglines has only updated twice. Definitely not enough for a news junkie like myself.
I think what’s annoying me the most is the lack of response from Bloglines. There is nothing noted anywhere on their site that they’re experiencing technical difficulties. On top of that, they’re not responding to my emails reporting the issue. It becomes very frustrating when there is a major issue and you’re not receiving any acknowledgment that there’s a problem. All I want them to say is “We’re experiencing some updating issues with feeds. Give us XX hours and things will be back to normal.” Is that too much to ask?

This is why I use offline RSS readers like Vienna and Newsfire instead of an online service like Bloglines.
I helped convert you to a Mail.app user, now I’m gonna get you subscribing to feeds offline too!
i noticed that too..
Smaran,
You like Mail.app better than Thunderbird? Is it easy to import contacts and mail if I decide to switch?
Hey Jonathan,
It’s very easy to import e-mails and contacts from Thunderbird into Mail.app and Address Book. In fact, I did just that when I switched to Mac OS X from Windows XP earlier this year. I was using Thunderbird for my RSS feeds, e-mail, calendar and contacts. Now I use Mail, Newsfire, iCal and Address Book. I dunno how good Thunderbird is on OS X, but I used to love it on Windows. Maybe I’ll it give it a try…
The reason I’ve held out ’til now is because up until 2.0 Firefox was pile of garbage on the Mac. The last stable Camino release isn’t too great either. I’m using the nightlies and I like them, so I hope they bring the new features to the masses soon.
I wrote such a nice long comment and Ron’s server went down
Smaran,
Both of your comments are visible. Thanks I will have to look into importing my contacts and mail.
Oh wow, the comments are live! I think they must have been caught by Akismet again.
That shouldn’t happen again. I switched to Spam Karma 2.
I noticed. Thank you.
Hopefully they fix the problem with my feed – apparently an old post (the MacHeist one) is always shown as the most recent entry, or so I’ve been told – I’m a gReader guy now.
Yeah, your MacHeist post is always shown in the feed. Hopefully that will disappear once it’s gone from your feed.
Blogger has no direct help e-mail or phone line. You can’t get hold of anyone live. You have to go through their FAQ lists, which ARE NOT use friendly. It is very frustrating. Since so many bloggers are new, you would thinkthat these services would consider the limited skill level of their customers, and provide a level of service that meets their customers’ needs.

[...] Since I’ve been having numerous troubles with Bloglines as of late, I’ve begun looking at feed reader alternatives. However, I’m running into one major snafu. I’m too used to the way Bloglines functions. I can handle another interface, but when I read my feeds, I like to read them a certain way. [...]
