Merry Christmas! You may notice my site is a little different today. That’s because I have launched my forth site design; this one entitle 4oh.

4oh is all about the following:
- Making the content super easy to read.
- Adding more spacing around objects, providing an open feeling.
- Looking slick while being as minimalistic as possible.
- Giving my site more room to grow.
It’s hard to believe, but when I set out to redesign my site, it was anything but clean. I wanted to show off all the Photoshop and CSS techniques I learned since my last design. After a few site mock-ups (one of them becoming a school project), I realized I was going about it the wrong way. I once again went back to the basics, coming out with something even cleaner than Clean and Mean.
I hope you enjoy this new site design. As always, if you notice anything weird or inconsistent, let me know. I’m aware IE6 currently has some issues (as always). I won’t be able to fully address those until I get back to school later next month. Stupid IE7 took over every Windows computer in my house, leaving me with no functional copy of IE6 to test on.
Once again, enjoy, and please leave feedback. I’m really interested in what you have to say. Is this an improvement? Do you dislike anything? Any and all suggestions are welcome.

I like the nice minimal design, looks good!
I like it - minimal approach, room to breathe, reminds me of 281 in a good way. I bet it’s faster than your old version too. =) One thing that might need rethinking is the top menu as the user constantly has to scroll back up to the very top to use them.. maybe under the header image, but then again that would be like your old version with tabs and I bet you were trying to go with something completely different this time around. Anyways, all in all very nice. Merry Xmas.
I love the new design. You’ve done a really good job with it! Clean, accessible and appealing.
Yeah, that’s an issue I was considering when developing the site. I’m still considering trying to improve it, but currently I believe it’s used sparingly enough that it doesn’t need to be hyper-accessible. The only thing is, the archives page may be frequently used, so I’m still thinking of what to do on that front. I might eventually add some to-the-top buttons, but until I can find a good place for them where they’re out of the way, I’m leaving things as is.
Looking nice, Ronald. Simplicity is the way to go. I’m currently in the middle of a redesign myself.
Nice, great job Ron! This looks brilliant.
Nice, I especially like the footer.
I think it definitely shows growth and maturity over and against your previous design. I enjoy the subtle gradient under the logo/header. I think the Nav menu is OK. If you were to move it I’d put it at the top of the sidebar, but not under the logo/header. Everyone’s right, the minimalism suits you and your subject matter. Good job!
I love the header and overall design. A lot different from your version site! Congratulations on a job well done!
I love it! I wanted a more minimal theme for myself, and this is a good example. Very nice job!!
It’s looking great! Simple and neat.
I love simplicity. Great job!
If I may say, it looks much better than your last design. Good job.
For the most part, I like it. It’s nice, easy to read, and feels right. The only major criticism I have of it is I would rather see the navigation appear below the banner in some way. I would probably also put the search up there too. Great work!
