Google Analyticator 1.5

It’s been a while since I did anything major to Google Analyticator, so it’s about time something was done. The new version released today now uses a JavaScript method for tracking outbound links and downloads. This new method uses less resources on your server (since tracking is now done locally), and should be more reliable overall. A big thanks goes out to Francesco Terenzani who wrote the JavaScript code for outbound tracking and helped me implement it.

If you haven’t checked out Google Analyticator in a while, I have recently added the option to place the tracking code in your footer (should your theme support this). This will speed up load times, so you should look into turning on that option if possible. Other than that, Google Analytictor is the same old reliable WordPress plugin for Google Analytics tracking.

    Hi, I think I found a problem in google-analyticator.zip, please help to check it, thanks.

    The directory in the zip file is “google_analyticator”, but google-analyticator.php uses “google-analyticator”. One is a underline, another is a dash. So, I think google-analyticator.php cannot find the javascript library.

    I’m aware of that issue. It was brought to my attention shorty after release and a fix was issued. Simply redownload the ZIP and reupload. Thanks for reporting the issue and enjoy Google Analyticator!

    Hi, i tried to use the plugin with WP 2.2. In the plugin directory, enabling it went fine. Also in the options, the ‘Google Analytics’ tab seems fine. But when i set it to ‘enable’ and fill in my UID, and click to update the options, WordPress says ‘Are you sure you want to do this?’. When clicking yes (or no), no changes are made so it is impossible to enable the plugin. Are you aware of this, or should it be working with 2.2? Thanks!

    maybe you know the answer :-)
    But i installed it, made the administrative thing in Google and plugged in the code in your plugin, but Google says (after 3 days) still: status control . so know data is added to my statistics, strange, any idea? i de-activated two plugin (site meter and google sitemaps, to be sure).
    but still no change, maybe you can help me out.

    Ivan van Beek, Google takes a while to recognize the tracking code. From the Google Analyticator FAQ:

    Q: Why is Google saying my tracking code isn’t installed?
    A: Google’s servers are slow at crawling for the tracking code. While the code may be visible on your site, it takes Google a number of days to realize it. The good news is hits are being recorded during this time; they just won’t be visible until Google acknowledges your tracking code.
