I Do Web Design Now

Starting today, I am now officially in the web design business. With the start of my web business, I have launched ronaldheft.com, my new hub for my web work. On my new site you’ll find a handy-dandy contact form as well as some of my recent work.

Why get into the web design business? My current job just isn’t working out. There was hope for a promotion, but that fell through. Now due to a “misunderstanding”, my work is treating me like shit and having me work a crap load of hours. Instead of trying to find another shitty job, I figured now is my chance to do some freelance work.

For the time being I’m still going to be working my crappy job. As I get more clients I should be able to eventually quit. To help me reach that goal, I’d appreciate if you could spread the word about my new web design gig. If you happen to need a website or know someone who does, I’d be glad to take on the task. Even if it the job is a small one, anything will help.

    Hi Ronald

All the best. I was wondering if you can make a wordpress based cms which can handle 10000s of articles and various categories.

Cool. So you already have jumped into the web design field? That’s awesome. I’m currently in school for web design.

I don’t see why not. WordPress is highly customizable and powerful enough to do anything CMS related. However, depending on what you’re looking for WordPress may be overkill.

I just sent you an email. I may have help me do a slight redesign/transition/modernization of my site.

I just don’t have the time to brush up on CSS and/or do coding.

    What sort of misunderstanding, Ron?

  11. 11 Ronald Heft on Feb 17, 2007 at 8:48 pm (Quote):

They took “I could work more hours if I get the promotion” as “I want to work more hours in my current low-paying, crappy position.” They also apparently think school no longer exists as they’ve been scheduling me when I have class. I haven’t been showing up when they do that. It’s their own problem.

Man, that really sucks. I can see why you would want to quit. I’ll refer any potential web design clients to you.

Hey there! Nice blog I stumbled upon here (not using StumbleUpon, though :-) )

Good luck with your business, it’s a hard one to survive in. You have to have a unique offering (and boast enough) to entice people to buy in.

Good luck with your new venture Ron.

Im thinking about starting my own part-time web design business, ive only got as far as having my own domain. I have designed and sold a couple of sites which the clients were very happy with but the sites were built using tables and im now trying to come to terms with using total css sites.

If anyone has any tips on starting a new web design business i would greatly welcome them

If you have the urge to code, run it through Postable and <pre><code>wrap it up</code></pre>.
