Akismet Spam Count

Current Version: Akismet Spam Count 1.1

Akismet Spam Count is no longer supported. If anyone wants to take over this plugin, just contact me and I will be happy to hand over the key.

Akismet Spam Count retrieves the number of spam messages Akismet has caught. Akismet is required in order to use this plugin.

Installation

Unzip akismet_count.zip, drop the akismet_count.php file into /wp-content/plugins/, and activate the plugin.

Usage

If you want to output just the number of spam messages Akismet has caught, add the following line of code to your template in the place you want it displayed:

<?php akismet_count(); ?>

This will output a plain number. Example: 34,875,935.

If you want to output a phrase instead of just the number, add the following line of code to your template in the place you want it displayed:

<?php akismet_count(1); ?>

This will output the phrase. The final output will have cavemonkey50.com replaced with the name of your blog. Example: Akismet has protected cavemonkey50.com from 636 spam comments.

Download Akismet Spam Count

As of WordPress 2.0.5, Akismet now has the ability to output the number of spam messages caught through the use of the < ?php akismet_counter(); ?> tag. This will output an image instead of plain text. Akismet Spam Count outputs the spam count as plain text, and will continue to function with this new version.

    I just installed it and my API is correct, however i get an error returned saying its not valid. is this because i have no spam yet? if so, shouldn’t it report back 0?

    Well, Akismet doesn’t create the spam count row in the database until you get one spam message. So the plugin will error until your receive a spam message. I think I might have a fix for that. I should have it done in a couple of minutes.

    Alright the fix is out. I now check if a function of Akismet exists, so if you do not have any spam yet you should get a count of 0.
