I don’t know if you’ve been following the news this past year, but Sony’s been in a lot of trouble. It started with the rootkit scandal late last year and has escalated from there. The PS3 was delayed, Dual-Shock was removed from the PS3 controller, the Wii controller was copied, the Cell processor was revealed to have extremely low yields, PS3′s announced price was expensive, Bluray’s DRM caused a delay in Bluray’s release, and Sony was caught faking a Bluray presentation. And now, Sony has yet another issue on their hand: exploding batteries.

This past week we saw two major recalls. First, Dell recalled over four million batteries, then later in the week Apple recalled just over a million batteries. All of these recalled batteries were none other than Sony batteries.

Things aren’t looking up for Sony either. They apparently have yet to start manufacturing the PS3, and consumer adaption to Bluray has been very slow. Sony is just falling apart.

So, when is enough, enough? How much more can we take before Sony is no longer a trusted name? I know I haven’t been able to trust Sony since the rootkit issue; everything else was just icing on the cake. I doubt Sony is ever going to crumble, but they need to get their act together quickly before Sony’s name and consumer trust is destroyed.
